Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is a prominent Malaysian politician and statesman who served as the Prime Minister of Malaysia in two non-consecutive terms. His first term, from 1981 to 2003, is notable for his transformative impact on Malaysia's economic and infrastructural development. During this period, he spearheaded policies that drove rapid industrialisation, modernised Malaysia’s infrastructure, and positioned the country as an emerging economic power in Southeast Asia.

Dr. Mahathir’s tenure was marked by significant projects, including the development of Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Federal Territory of Putrajaya, the creation of the Multimedia Super Corridor, and the establishment of several high-profile institutions. After stepping down in 2003, Dr. Mahathir remained an influential figure in Malaysian politics, actively critiquing and influencing policy.
