Dr. Kamarulzaman bin Mohamed Zin

Dr. Kamarulzaman Mohamed Zin is a highly respected figure in the semiconductor industry with a robust background in Electrical Engineering. He earned his Masters in Semiconductor Devices from Lancaster University and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London, specializing in semiconductor devices, which laid the foundation for his significant contributions to the industry.
Dr. Kamarulzaman is the founder of Callidus Semikondukdor Sdn Bhd, a pioneering front-end semiconductor start-up. Callidus Semikondukdor offers process development support services for the integrated circuit (IC) design market and precision engineering fabrication of components for the semiconductor equipment market. His vision and leadership in this venture have positioned the company as a vital player in Malaysia's growing semiconductor landscape.
Prior to founding Callidus, Dr. Kamarulzaman served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a tier-2 open foundry. He is widely credited with the successful turnaround of SilTerra, where he emphasised the "More than Moore" segments of the market, ensuring the company’s sustainability and growth in a competitive industry. His strategic initiatives were instrumental in solidifying SilTerra's position as a key player in the global semiconductor industry.
Dr. Kamarulzaman also played a significant role in the investment sector as a former Director of Investments at Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund. His expertise in technology and investments contributed to the strategic growth of Malaysia's high-tech industries. Prior to that, he was the Vice President of Technology Management at Sapura Group
In addition to his corporate roles, Dr. Kamarulzaman has been an active participant in industry development activities. He was the Founding Chairman of the Semiconductor Fabrication Association of Malaysia and has served as a Board Member of SEMI, a global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chain for the electronics industry. Through these roles, he has been a strong advocate for the development and support of the Malaysian electrical and electronics industry.
Even after his extensive career, Dr. Kamarulzaman remains actively involved in industry advocacy and continues to contribute to the growth and development of Malaysia’s electrical and electronics sectors.
