Halisa Čengić is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in diverse legal, tax, and consultancy engagements across multiple industries.
She began her career as a legal trainee in the prestigious attorney’s offices of Wolf Theiss and later DMB Legal in Sarajevo. Following this, she served at the Institute for Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo, initially as an associate and subsequently as the institution’s secretary. Halisa also collaborated with the renowned attorney’s office of Vasvija Vidović in Sarajevo as a legal associate.
Her professional journey then led her to KPMG International’s Sarajevo office, where she provided consultancy services for two years. During this time, she gained valuable insights into Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international positioning in Europe and beyond, working closely with Judge Kees van der Weide, an international advisor at the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After accumulating seven years of rich professional experience, Halisa founded her own legal practice, Hallaw, on February 1, 2023. Her office provides legal services in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, English, and Turkish, catering to a diverse clientele.
In August 2023, Halisa joined General Aviation A.S. in Istanbul, Türkiye, as a legal consultant specializing in international aircraft transactions.
Throughout her career, Halisa has worked on numerous significant projects, including legal and tax due diligences, mergers and acquisitions, and high-value sale and purchase agreements. She has advised on European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed projects, including public infrastructure reconstruction initiatives. Her consultancy portfolio includes clients in telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, food production, civil engineering, and renewable energy sectors, including wind power plants. She has also worked on compliance, data protection, labor relations, and forensic research projects.
Halisa’s clients have included high-profile organizations such as ENERGOPETROL d.d., Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd., Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, RCB Nanotechnology Ltd., BH Telecom d.d., Berry Superfos Balkan d.o.o., Telemach d.o.o., ZARA BH d.o.o., Sanofi-Aventis, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Europe S.P.A. Genova, and Alma Career OY, among others.
