Tan Sri Othman Abdul Razak is a distinguished figure with a rich career in both public service and corporate leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in History/International Relations from the University of Malaya and completed his post-graduate studies in Defence and Security at the prestigious Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom.
Tan Sri Othman began his career in the Malaysian administrative and diplomatic service in 1972, where he served in various capacities across Malaysian foreign missions in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. His extensive experience in international relations and diplomacy culminated in his appointment as director-general in the Prime Minister's Department, a role he held from 2002 to 2006.
Following his retirement from public service in 2006, Tan Sri Othman continued to contribute to national and international peace efforts. He served as an adviser to the Prime Minister of Malaysia and was the chief facilitator in the peace process between the government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front until 2010. His efforts also extended to South Thailand, where he initiated contacts between the Thai authorities and the Patani separatist movements, supported by The Organisation of Islamic Conference and international NGOs, in an attempt to bring peace to the region.
Tan Sri Othman’s corporate engagements include serving as an independent non-executive director of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad from 2006 to 2010 and as a director of Kumpulan Ikram Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Protasco Berhad, from 2006 to 2007. He joined Tropicana Corporation Berhad as an independent non-executive director on April 18, 2016, and was appointed as the company’s independent non-executive chairman in 2016 and remain the position till 2017.
Throughout his career, Tan Sri Othman Abdul Razak has been recognised for his commitment to diplomacy, peacebuilding, and corporate governance. His contributions have left a lasting impact on Malaysia's foreign relations and corporate landscape.
