Melati Hassan Basree

Melati Hassan Basree's exciting journey with the Human Life Advancement Foundation kicked off in February 2012 as a Manager. Over the next seven years, she honed her skills in operational and managerial processes, paving the way for her future leadership roles.

From May 2019 to August 2020, Melati thrived as the Deputy Director of Operations. In this dynamic role, she scouted cutting-edge technological innovations and promising start-ups, negotiated extensively, and built global networks to propel the foundation’s mission forward.

From September 2020 to August 2022, she excelled as the Director of Development and Operations. During this period, she also stepped up as Acting CEO for five months following the passing of the beloved CEO, Almarhum Junaidi Said, in August 2021. This was a crucial time to ensure the foundation's continuity in strategic initiatives during the transitional period.

In her roles, Melati identified and researched new intellectual properties and technology start-ups, negotiated partnerships, and expanded the foundation’s global network. Her efforts were crucial in coordinating various high-impact projects. Her strategic planning, international negotiation skills, and budgeting expertise were essential in managing operations effectively and maintaining the foundation’s momentum.

Melati is a passionate advocate for Sustainable Development Growth (SDG) and Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG). Her integrity, enthusiasm, and remarkable work ethic have significantly contributed to her success in various leadership roles.

After resigning in August 2022, Melati made a triumphant return in April 2024 as the Chief Executive Officer. In her current role, she leads the foundation’s strategic direction and operational initiatives, focusing on high-impact projects and ensuring alignment with the foundation’s humanitarian and developmental goals.
